The District 2 distance runners will be trying to make their marks this weekend at the PIAA state track and field meets.
Riversides Lacey Danilovitz took home gold last week in the 3200 winning easily to advance.
Lacey Danilovitz, Riverside Senior says, “I kind of got out to a pretty fast start. after that, I kind of just cruised by listening to how I felt. I tried to keep a big lead and try and finish strong. “
The senior is no stranger to the state meet finishing 4th last season.
Danilovitz added, “ I feel really confident. Hoping to PR and maybe even break 10:40 with a possible 2nd or 3rd place medal so I m excited for that. “
With some words of advice from his older sister Daniel Danilovitz won his first-ever gold medal at the district meet also in the 3200.
Ide asks, “Did she give you any words of advice this time?
Daniel Danilovitz, Riverside Junior says, “ Yea, Calm down. I can do better than I think I am going to and just channel any nervous energy that I have right into the race. I just see how good she does and what she does to get ready for a race like going to the gym, doing strides, a lot of that especially getting ready. “
So it will be a carpool ride for the brother and sister when they head to the state track and field meet over memorial day weekend.
Daniel says, “ It has happened before where I ridden in the same car as her to states but I of course didn’t run. that is going to be great and like a little bus with the Riverside team. “
In AAA Scranton Brian McCormack will be headed the Shippensburg in the 3200. The Junior is the 26th seed but feels he can compete.
Brian McCormack, “ Scranton Junior says, “I am really happy about it. I never got to go down there before or been able to make a mark on the state level so I am eating good, and making sure I am doing everything right. Sleeping well being confident in my training. You really can’t get much then there. “
