Wyoming Valley Conference Football

Just one day before the start of high school football practice the Wyoming Valley conference and its teams gathered to meet the media today. Our bob ide was there and gives us a preview of how some of the teams will be this season.

The start of the high school football season is less than three weeks away. For Hazleton Area and the cougars, it’s there 4th season under mike brennan and they feel they are ready to take the next step.

Josh WE have been lifting all of season doing great, running everything, I think the coach is pushing us over the hump and we going to be good this year.

At Coughlin, the crusaders will have some of the top skill people in the valley but they still may fly under the radar.

Vincent Todd : honestly I feel we will get zero respect but I mean we really don’t really care for that we just show up Friday night and we’ll show what we can do.

For Berwick, the loss of returning quarterback jared marshman to an injury early on has made the bulldogs work even harder.

Jared: We lost a lot of senior last year but I think the skill position, the players and the linemen we have coming back I think we are going to get the job done

Crestwood won only 3 games last season. The comets though return 16 starters on both sides of the ball.

Kevin Klusewitz:I think we have a lot of seniors coming back and we return a lot of starters and I think we have a lot of good senior leadership and our skill positions are pretty good so I think we can do some damage this year.

Bob: for Wyoming Valley West, the loss of some of their top skill people hasn’t dampened the spirit of this team. In fact, this Spartan team may have one of the biggest offensive lines ever in the Wyoming valley conference.

Dominic Alunni: our offensive line is a big part of this year, we got three returning starters, 4 we got we got a younger guy in the center, but yea that is our strength the offense and defensive lines.

Nanticoke fans are looking ahead to a big season after the Trojans lost in the district playoffs. This year’s team feels confident trey can do better than 5 wins.

John: The goal is top get back to the district playoffs go against Scranton prep probably again and win that championship. We just want to execute and finish this year and that is our big thing.

Once again the highs school football season kicks off August 25th. Bob will take us to the Schuylkill League football conference later this week
