Wanted McAdoo man tied to Maryland vehicle theft, reward raised to $20K
Fugitive Shawn Christy is believed to be behind a vehicle theft in Maryland Monday.
U.S. Marshals say Christy, 27, of McAdoo, was positively identified in Cumberland, Maryland, Sunday around 7 p.m.
He was allegedly seen wearing a tan shirt and blue jeans, sleeping in a vehicle. He fled after spotted by the witness.
Investigators say a business owner in that area reported Monday a stolen 1997 GMC Sierra pickup truck with PA license plate ZGL-2845. Christy is considered a suspect in the theft.
Back on June 19, 2018, authorities issued a federal arrest warrant for Christy involving Facebook threats towards President Donald Trump and other elected officials stating:
“Keep it up Morganelli, I promise I’ll put a bullet in your head as soon as I put one in the head of President Donald J. Trump.”
He was last a suspect sighted on surveillance video breaking into the home of Dakota Meyer's brother, Timothy Gilliam on August 9, 2018, in Adair County, Kentucky.
According to authorities, Christy allegedly stole food and a green 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Gilliam's residence.
That Jeep was recently found Saturday in a wooded area in Nitro, West Virginia.
Federal authorities are offering a reward up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of Christy.
He is a white male, 5'10"tall, 160 pounds, has a tattoo of a cross on his right upper arm, short dark blonde hair and a full beard. He speaks with a noticeable lisp and claims to be a survivalist.
Christy is believed to be armed and dangerous.
The U.S. Marshals Service continues the manhunt investigation.
Anyone with information about this vehicle or Christy should call 911 immediately or the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-Wanted-2 (1-877-926-8332).
