NISBET, LYCOMING COUNTY (WOLF) — A fire at a vacant Nisbet home on Christmas Eve resulted in over $250,000 worth of estimated damage.
Officials were called to the home on 2774 Route 654 around 5:30 p.m. to a car fire under a car port.
The fire then spread to the residence.
The PSP fire marshal says Wednesday the car had a list of recalls for the make and model with the potential to cause an engine compartment fire.
The fire company that responded, Nisbet Volunteer Fire Company, says the vacant home belonged to one of its lifelong members.
Firefighters worked throughout the night into Christmas morning extinguishing the fire.
