Thomas' Foodtown continues seafood market tradition despite frigid temps

SHAVERTOWN, LUZERNE COUNTY (WOLF) -- A Back Mountain tradition continuing Sunday despite frigid temperatures.

Staff at Thomas’ Foodtown in Shavertown held the last day of its annual outside seafood market.

People can choose from a variety of frozen seafood, from crab legs to shrimp.

Foodtown starts preparing for the market every August and they say business has been booming even despite the cold.

“Its not bad when you’re moving around. When you’re sitting you get cold, but we’ve been moving around all day. People are always asking for stuff and you’ve got to move around, got to point and stuff, and you don’t even notice it. When you’re moving around, you don’t have time to focus on your cold hands,” employee Heath Jones said.

The market is usually open every year from the week before Christmas until New Year’s Eve.
