LA PLUME, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WOLF) -- It's all paws on deck at Keystone College today. Several therapy dogs visited the school as part of its Public Health Week.
It's a time to educate the community on public health issues and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.
Barbara Mattes runs the dog training program and thinks this is fun for students to relax with the dogs. She says she loves working with something that has such an impact.
"It helps them get through bad times, or, you know, even when you go to some of the nursing homes and some of the people, they don't have any kind of connection, and then all of a sudden they'll pet the dog and then they'll smile. It's just very rewarding," said Mattes.
Keystone College's week of events is being held in conjunction with National Public Health week taking place next week.
