Teen charged after fatal crash

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WOLF) -- Police have filed charges against a 17-year-old driver following a crash that killed another teen.

It happened on Apr. 15 on S. Main near the Wilkes-Barre city line.

The driver was speeding, inattentive, and not licensed, according to police Chief Albert Walker.

She was charged Wednesday through juvenile court with accidents involving death or personal injury, police said.

Jasmine Cardona, 16, Plymouth, died after the crash. She was a passenger in the vehicle.

Police say the SUV crossed another lane of traffic and snapped a pole.

Cardona was a student at Wyoming Valley West High School. Other teens in the SUV were also hurt.
