Stroud Mall assault, robbery suspect found
STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WOLF) -- One of the men involved in an assault and robbery at the Stroud Mall last month is now behind bars.
18-year-old Willie Denzel Saunders is now facing robbery and aggravated assault charges after turning himself in last night.
According to court papers, the 20-year-old victim in that assault was lured to the mall by a female to meet her for a first date.
As they were walking in the parking deck, police say he was beaten up by two men, one of them the female's boyfriend, and asked for “weed and money.”
Then, the men forced him into his own vehicle and drove him to nearby ATM, using his debit card and PIN number to withdraw cash.
Police say surveillance footage from that ATM and several anonymous tips helped them catch Saunders.
