LANSFORD, CARBON CO, (WOLF) — Emergency responders were called to No. 9 Coal Mine in Lansford early Thursday morning when workers noticed signs of a break-in.
Police told FOX56 that a man was inside the mine for an unknown reason. Early reports indicated that the man may have been armed.
A plan was conducted and responders entered the mine. Officials say that the man - who had many outstanding warrants - was located in a hazardous, deep part of the mine.
Officials say he complied with police and went immediately into an ambulance, as he was showing early signs of hypothermia. He is expected to be okay, according to police.
The man's name has not been released as of 5 PM Thursday.
