WILKES-BARRE TWP, LUZERNE CO, (WOLF) — An event hosted by ASM Global Wilkes-Barre and Misericordia University Occupational Therapy Department was held on Tuesday to announce a new program.
It will be a new sensory inclusive program at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre Township.
The program will provide additional sensory services and accommodations to guests with sensory needs.
Lindsay Dragon, Founder/Executive Director of Parenting Autism United:
We’ve been to many shows where we’ve had to leave early. So it’s a negative experience which could’ve been a positive one. So having this available to the masses is really really special. Getting to go to more things, getting to create more memories and having those positive experiences are key to being happy.
Barbara Schwartz-Bechet, Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Education at Misericordia University:
I’m very hopeful that this will spread, it wont just be staying here at Mohegan Sun, that we will find other areas within the community that would also like to have something of this nature, that would help to bring more families in and feel welcome in their spaces. We want to just be part of the community and this helps us to really work together with our community as well.
The program will open at events being held at Mohegan Sun Arena beginning in May.
