Scranton School Board Director resigns

SCRANTON (WOLF) -- Scranton School Board Director Jim Timlin wants to have more time to travel to see his daughter and granddaughter in Pittsburgh, according to School Board president Bob Sheridan.

He adds it has interfered with the board's Monday meetings, with Timlin missing several over the last few months.

After accepting today's resignation the school board will advertise to fill the position.

Sheridan says they need to replace him as soon as possible with the Scranton School District budget deadline fast approaching.

This comes a month after State Auditor General Eugene DePasquale gave the district an "F" for financial mismanagement.
