Roundabout construction causes confusion for drivers
DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WOLF) -- Construction on a new roundabout in Dallas is causing confusion for drivers and headaches for local business owners.
PennDOT began work on the roundabout back in January.
It aims to increase traffic flow and reduce the number of car accidents at the intersection of Main, Church, and Lake streets, Machell Avenue and Memorial Highway.
Drivers say the signs directing traffic around the construction aren’t clearly marked, and local business owners say its driving customers away.
“Its been a little slow with the roundabout, people confused trying to get in here and how to get out, you can’t make a left turn. Its – they just opened this a few days ago, people are still confused of how to get into the parking lot and then they’re going to block it off twelve days from now and block off Lake Street, the only access you’re going to get is going to be Church Street, so once they get used to coming up this way, they’re going to change it again and come up Church Street side,” Patrick Cunningham, owner of Pizza Bella on Lake Street, said.
That project is expected to be completed in 2019.
