Rocket Ismail in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WOLF) — United Way of Wyoming Valley kicked off its 101st campaign with a special guest: former NFL player Rocket Ismail.

The fundraising campaign kickoff took place in the Keystone Grand Ballroom at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

Ismail served as a keynote speaker for the event.

Former Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton and his wife, who are campaign co-chairs, also gave remarks.

Anyone, any organization like the United Way that has a platform where they support what’s best for our community, is worthy of support from the community and that’s what I feel about the United Way and I’m very thankful and honored to be invited to share at the kickoff for the United Way this year.

People can pledge money to this year's campaign by making a one-time donation, or monthly.
