Riverfest provides educational fun for all ages
WILKES-BARRE (WOLF) -- There’s much fun to be had along the Susquehanna River in Wilkes-Barre at this year’s Riverfest.
Its put on each year by the city’s Riverfront Parks Committee and aims to teach people about the ecosystem along the river common.
Exhibits include live mammals, freshly-caught fish, and pony rides.
“Our mission is environmental education. That’s the only reason we do this. So we create this event that’s fun, recreational, and it’s a way to get the public, families into our classroom which is this area along the river and on the river too. So we have the kayak and canoe trips, we have the dragon boat racing, and everything else that goes along with it," Executive Director John Maday said.
Dragon boat races kick off tomorrow at 9 o’clock.
