PSP Troop N hosts first annual Sunny Day Camp for people with special needs
LONG POND, MONROE COUNTY (WOLF) -- Pennsylvania State Troopers covering Luzerne, Columbia, Carbon, and Monroe counties hosted a day camp for people with special needs today.
Troop N inviting adults and children ages 8 and up to their first annual Sunny Day Camp.
The camp was held on Pocono Raceway in Long Pond in Monroe County.
Campers were treated to demonstrations and activities, including the K-9 Unit, helicopter, games and a DJ and even test drives around the track.
“We wanted to make sure that it was all about them and their families. Come in and see what law enforcement has to offer them, but also getting to see us in a different light. Sometimes they just see us on the side of the road taking care of a crash or writing a citation, but you know, we really do care about what happens to them and we want today to be very special for them,” Trooper First Class David Peters said.
The camp was originally scheduled on Saturday from 8-4 p.m., but had to be rescheduled due to the weather. It was rescheduled to today and ended a little early because of rain showers.
