Penn State Bowl Preview

Brandon smith is a small town kid from Lewisburg who walked on at Penn State and then emerged has a big time linebacker at Penn State. He now gets to finish his lions career in Arizona.

Brandon smith says, " I think the fiesta Bowl is historic game, a new year’s six game, it is going to be fun.I am sure it is going to be an awesome atmosphere out there. To be able to play a lot in my last game it is just going to be fun. I have had a long career here and didn’t start the way it finished and with playing time. I sat on the bench the first two years.I am just looking forward to the opportunity and I am going to make the most out of it , prepare and just have fun. "

For many of Smith’s teammates this is not the way that had hoped to end this season. Penn State was ranked as high as number 2 in the country at one point and instead of wrapping things up with a chance at a National title the lions are making their 7th trip to the fiesta bowl.

Head coach James Franklin says "there are very few teams at the end of the season that end happy. Really you’ve got one that is truly happy."

Senior Amani Oruwariye added " A lot of people think that it is playoff or nothing, but this is still a big bowl game. It is the Fiesta Bowl, so we’re going to go in there and play our hearts out and have a good time. "

The one big question is whether Whitehall’s, Saquon Barkley will play his final game in the lions uniform or will he sit out and look ahead to the draft. Right now, the junior is schedule to play.

Franklin added " It's not my decision. Saquon's made a decision and we didn't really have a whole lot of conversation about it. but I don't really kind of get into that one a whole lot."

How much the Barkley actually gets on the field is yet to be heard.
