NEPA Toys For Tots program getting ready to spread holiday cheer

FOX56 dropped of donations on Monday for the Toys for Tots of NEPA.

Some of Santa's helpers from FOX56 loaded up bags full of new toys for local families in need Monday.

Employees donated during the month of December through the Toys for Tots program, managed by the United States Marine Corps and local volunteers.

Sergeant Matthew Jacobs says this year's campaign has been very successful, and it's been a busy week organizing the many donations they've received.

"It starts right here, this is the first step of the process," Jacobs said. "Then we distribute everything out to the specific ages and genders. Then from there, we put them in the respective spots. We go to the non-profits, we get a master list, give them toys that they need, and from there, it goes right to the families who requested the toys for Christmas."

Sergeant Jacobs estimates the Toys for Tots of NEPA has received over 80,000 items for children in need.
