Neighbor Cindy Keller was at work when it happened, but her partner Steve was home.

Williamsport police officer Nicholas Carrita saw the suspect flee the scene in a white Dodge. going east on Third Street.

"Well the neighbors told me he ran down the street, jumped that fence and ran that way," said Steve Keller.

Officer Carrita stopped the suspect further down West Third Street. That's when the suspect got out of his car and fired multiple rounds, hitting Carrita in the arm.

"You worry about your friends, your family, the whole nine yards," said Cindy. "Then you worry about the after. What's going to happen afterwards?"

Police say other officers followed the suspect after fleeing again in his vehicle.

Following him down Route 220 to where he pulled into the Sheetz in Linden.

That's when police say the suspect got out of his car and exchanged fire with multiple officers.

The suspect, 27-year-old Paul Heath, shot himself at the Sheetz.

The Kellers say this is a new experience for their neighborhood.

"That's the first time something like that ever happened."

State Police and Williamsport police are working to find another suspect, but cannot provide a description at this time.
