The Luzerne County election board and election bureau have reached an agreement with Mayor George C. Brown regarding write-in votes.

According to our newsgathering partners at the Times Leader, Republican write-in votes for Mayor Brown will be tallied, even if voters did not shade in the oval next to the write-in box on the paper ballots.

A court hearing was scheduled after attorney Neil O’Donnell filed an emergency petition on Brown’s behalf Wednesday. This was done in an attempt to force Luzerne County's board of elections to tally primary election write-in votes that did not have the oval filled out next to the write-in line.
