Marywood U hosts annual Christmas tree lighting
SCRANTON (WOLF) -- Marywood University is kicking off its holiday season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.
The ceremony is held in the school’s Rotunda each year and includes prayer, ornament presentations, holiday choral entertainment, and refreshments.
Its also open to the public.
This year’s tree comes from the Lake Ariel region.
“Well I’ll tell you what, its Wednesday today… on Monday morning I saw the gentlemen bringing this tree in here and they put it up and they opened the branches and by Monday afternoon it was decorated. They have it down to a science, they’re really good at it,” Sister Mary Persico, President, Marywood University, said.
The tree will stay up and lit throughout the rest of the year, and into the new year until the feast of the Epiphany in early January.
