Man charged after deadly four-vehicle crash


SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WOLF) -- State police have made an arrest, two years after a deadly crash in the Poconos.

Stephen Martini, 27, Bushkill, was arraigned on Thursday morning.

The crash happened on Nov. 18, 2015, around 4:30 a.m., on River Road near Buttermilk Falls Road.

Investigators say Martini was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana when he crossed lanes and caused a four-vehicle crash.

Police say his blood alcohol was .189.

One person, Guiliano Joseph, was killed. He was reportedly on his way to work as an MTA bus driver in New York City.

Police say those seriously injured were Christopher Vonderheide, Janice George, and Martini's passenger, Brittany Coleman.

Also involved in the crash were Frank Passarella, Sonia Cuecas, and Veronica Werley. The complaint says George and Werley were going to the Martz bus station.

Martini is charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI and related charges. His bail was set at $250,000.
