SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO, (WOLF) — The Salvation Army Scranton Adult Rehabilitation Center hosted local officials for a tour of the facility.
The Scranton center is one of more than 100 adult rehabilitation centers across the country, which aims to help people who've lost their way due to alcohol, drugs, homelessness, and other issues.
"We're all about trying to get people back on track," said Colonel Dennis Gensler, Arc Commander for the Salvation Army. "Anyone can come, it's typically a 6-month program for them to find their way and eventually return to employment, return to their families, and get a restart."
"Salvation army not only gives them the program but gives them the tools to get them back into society and produce successfully," said Lackawanna County judge Michael Barrasse. "I believe the Salvation Army is an asset to Scranton and Lackawanna County, and really throughout the country."
The rehabilitation centers are funded by the sale of items at Salvation Army Family thrift stores.
