Local non-profit wraps gifts to raise money for babies with disabilities
DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WOLF) -- A local non-profit that supports people with disabilities is raising more money for its cause by bringing Christmas cheer to shoppers.
United Cerebral Palsy of Northeastern PA has had a gift wrapping booth at the Viewmont Mall in Dickson City for 37 years.
From Black Friday to Christmas Eve, volunteers wrap any and everything shoppers bring their way.
The space is donated by the mall and the proceeds go towards the organization’s Early Intervention Program which specifically helps babies with disabilities.
“Everyone here tonight is all volunteers, some of my very best friends and you know, when you work with a non-profit, your family. My daughter’s here. This woman used to work for us. She comes back every year to help us. So most of this is done through volunteers. We have a family who has done this gift wrap fundraiser every year we’ve done it. 37 years,” Executive Director Sarah Drob said.
The gift wrapping booth will be open tomorrow from noon til close and Christmas Eve from 9:00 a.m. til close.
