Fire departments responding to weather damage across our area

    First responders have been dispatched to several locations in NEPA Monday morning in response to gusty winds and heavy rain damage.

    The National Weather Service declared a flash flood watch in effect until 8 p.m. Monday with wind gusts up to 40 mph.

    Scranton Firefighters showed their crews on social media evacuating Lutherwood Apartment's residents.

    Its Facebook page says the high winds tore the roof off of the 6-story building Sunday night.

    Other fire departments responded to downed trees, taking out houses and power lines.

    Dunmore Fire Department was dispatched to a house on West Pine Street for a tree that fell onto a house.

    Another fire department, Artisan Volunteer Fire Company, also took to their social media to show its activity in East Jermyn.

    Law enforcement and first responders are encouraging motorists to use caution and drive slow while traveling.
