"It can very well cause issues," Cindy Furman, Wayne County's election director, said Tuesday.

Furman is talking about Bob Morgan's surprise exit as Luzerne County's election director- after less than six months. It's also less than 6 weeks until election day on November 2.

"The month before any election is the busiest," Furman said.

Furman knows best- she's been the Wayne County election director for 16 years. With just over a month to go before the big day, there's still plenty to do.

"We have to get the poll workers, we have to get the equipment programmed and then deliver it the week before the election. The ballots have to be printed and prepared for the election itself," Furman said.

Morgan's exit means more responsibilities for employees at the Bureau of Elections. Acting Luzerne County manager Romilda Crocamo says they can handle it.

"I was surprised. because I didn't know Bob would be leaving us this soon before the election," Crocamo said. "I'm confident that we will provide a free, fair and transparent election with minimal obstacles."

Election day is Tuesday, November 2. You have until October 18 to register to vote.

We did reach out to Morgan for comment- but haven't heard back. We're told he has another job opportunity out of the area.
