SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO, (WOLF) — A GoFundMe that was created to help Alfredo's Café in Scranton after a customer scammed the restaurant out of $3,000 has been canceled because the restaurant declined the funds.
In July, Eric Smith left a $3,000 tip for Mariana Lambert on a $13 bill, saying the gesture was part of "Tips for Jesus." This feel-good story took a turn last week when Smith disputed the charge for the tip.

Last week, FOX56 reported that because the restaurant already paid Lambert the restaurant got stuck with the bill. As a result, the owners of Alfredo's Café were prompted to file a civil lawsuit against Smith.
Paul McMaster organized a GoFundMe for the restaurant. In a statement, McMaster said:
The poor small business is out the money. They are suing but chances are slim. I hate to see their faith in humanity, and, more importantly, their finances at risk.
Only $40 was raised on the GoFundMe account before it was shut down and is no longer accepting donations.
