Giant delivers 100 turkeys to Scranton nonprofit, 9,500 across NEPA
SCRANTON (WOLF) -- Gobble gobble!
November has arrived - and that means people are thinking about how they're getting turkey and stuffing on the holiday table.
But one local grocery store is eliminating that worry for some in Scranton - and across our area.
This week Giant Food Stores is making company history by donating by donating 9,500 turkeys to local food banks.
Thursday, they dropped off 100 turkeys to United Neighborhood Center of NEPA.
Giant employees are also volunteering to organize clothing and get them ready for the winter season.
"Today alone, myself and some others were signing up some people just to receive some of these dinners and it's a really big deal to them because it is hard in the community sometimes for a lot of people. We're just thankful and proud that we can help them out," said Giant Store Manager in Scranton Rob Miller.
Giant says this turkey donation is part of their 95th anniversary celebration, giving back to community partners.
