Free food and fire truck fun at Misericordia University

DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WOLF) -- Families in Luzerne County were treated to an evening of family fun – all for a good cause.

Metz Culinary Management offered free Chick-fil-A meals to children at its location on Misericordia University’s campus.

Parents had to buy their own meals, and a portion from each sale goes to the Franklin Twp. Fire Department.

The fire department also brought their fire trucks. Children were allowed to sit inside.

“Wanted to get some community input and meet some of the kids and let them know what we do. Hopefully, it’ll raise some awareness and they’ll decide to be firefighters, because here in Pennsylvania most of us are volunteer and its real, real expensive to run a fire department. A piece of apparatus like our tanker to replace that now would be close to $500,000, to replace that in today’s value and it’s a good chance for us to meet the community, its a good event for us,” Franklin Twp. Fire Chief Robert Kile said.
