Fire that destroyed Montrose pizza place not suspicious

A fire that destroyed Original Italian Pizza in Montrose on Saturday night is not believed to be suspicious.

A fire that destroyed a popular Montrose restaurant Saturday night is not believed to be suspicious.

It happened just before 11 p.m at Original Italian Pizza on South Main Street.

According to a state police fire marshal, two tenants of an upstairs apartment were able to escape after hearing popping noises and feeling heat from the attic walls.

Firefighters then discovered fire in the third-floor attic area.

Sub-zero temperatures made that fire difficult to fight.

The investigation will continue later this week when the weather breaks.

The owner of the restaurant plans to eventually rebuild.
