Fallen Deputy Marshal Remembered As Devoted Family Man, Dedicated Public Servant
Devoted family man, decorated combat veteran, a true hero -- This is how people who knew and worked with Deputy Marshal Christopher Hill describe the fallen officer.
While colleagues say Deputy Marshal Hill was among the most elite trained law enforcement officers in the state, there was also a very different side of Hill.
Flags are flying at half-staff at the federal courthouse in honor of the life and service of Deputy Hill who is being remembered for his outgoing sense of humor, devotion to his family, and men and women he served with until his tragic and untimely death.
"He was on of the most highly trained and elite law enforcement officers in the state," PA Sen. Mike Regan said. “He was a firearms instructor he was a tactical training instructor he was someone who was really involved ironically and keeping others chef in training others to be in a position to stay safe.”
Close friend and former colleague State Senator Mike Regan say Deputy Hills loss is a devastating blow to the law enforcement community.
"If there was a more dedicated public servant I’d like to see him. He was highly check rated military man a consummate deputy US marshal who carried that tradition of the US marshals service to a whole new level," he said.
But there was also a different side to Deputy Hill.
“Great sense of humor. Always thought things were funny and kind of off time it was fun to be around because he was just one of those people you meet in your life where they destroy you in, they draw you in with your personality and he had a big smile and just he was a really great guy. I mean, it’s easy to say nice things about somebody posthumously but he truly was someone that everyone like. But, There was a contrast to them, the guy who like to laugh and carry-on with you but then when it came down to business he was deadly Vo We spoke with a cousin of Deputy Hill who while they’re devastated by the loss, they’re also incredibly proud of his service and devotion," Candy Fishe, Deputy Hill’s cousin, said. “He was a dedicated father, all around all around just an awesome guy somebody that’s given his life for his country and his service first community he was educated that that they lost an amazing man.”
“He just had a lot of friends and made friends easily and people liked him and people follow him he was a leader. I’m positive that everyone of those guys and the reason the bad guys dad is because Chris was leading the trip and they all knew exactly what they were supposed to do and things went awry but at the end of the day, and I bet you if you could ask Chris this now if someone had to die he would’ve said it would’ve been him get out that’s just the way goes he’s a leader someone who would want that for troops," Sen. Regan said.
Deputy Hill will be buried with full military and law enforcement honors. We’ll bring you more details as they become available.
