CENTRALIA, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WOLF) — A sinkhole measured 15-feet in diameter and 100-foot-deep was discovered in Centralia.
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) officials say it was found off Route 61 within the last two weeks.
They don't know how long it has existed, but say it was caused by mine subsidence from underground mines.
Work to fill the hole with large boulders and rocks began on Friday and will continue throughout the week.
According to the DEP, the sinkhole doesn't seem to be expanding.
