Courtright edges out Mulligan for second mayoral term

SCRANTON (WOLF) -- Just before 10 p.m. tonight, Mayor Bill Courtright addressed his supporters in a ballroom at the Radisson hotel in downtown Scranton.

He thanked them and his family for being there and their support over the last four years -- his first term as mayor -- and accepted the position for another four years.

Courtright won 51.8% of the vote. His opponent, Republican candidate Jim Mulligan, getting 48.2%. Courtright defeated Mulligan in that election four years ago.

The mayor says he will continue to make what he says is progress on the city's finances and bring businesses back to Scranton. He also thanked Mulligan for conceding the election.
