CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WOLF) -- The City of Carbondale is in for some much needed cash.

Governor Wolf was in town Tuesday announcing the approval of a state grant for$500,000 for the acquisition and demolition of blighted structures and site development.

It's expected to also help construct two new commercial buildings, and create around two dozen jobs in the city.

"The industrial revolution in many ways came through Carbondale, and we need to pay tribute to those roots by doing everything we can to make sure that places like Carbondale have the wherewithal to revitalize themselves," said Governor Wolf.

State Senator John Blake says this grant pairs up with another grant from December, and that both these grants will be matched to give Carbondale a total of $4 million to go towards revitalization projects.
