Woman accused of lying about State Police Trooper rape in court

Christine Cromer arrives at the Luzerne County Courthouse for her preliminary hearing on Friday, February 2, 2018.

A Plains Township woman State Police say lied about a trooper raping her in the parking lot of Mohegan Sun Casino in 2016, was in court Friday for a preliminary hearing.

Christine Cromer, 37, didn’t have anything to say as she entered the Luzerne County Courthouse.

After a short period of heated testimony, her defense attorney asked the judge overseeing the case to recuse himself.

He felt the judge was treating the defense unfairly by sustaining every objection the prosecution made while he questioned the witness.

Cromer, a former casino employee, says a State Police trooper raped her in the front seat of his patrol vehicle.

Investigators say Cromer changed her story about the nature of her relationship with the trooper before the alleged assault took place.
