Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton is getting a new ski lift this coming season and it's being built now, before the first snow falls.

The new lift will be called the Main Street Express - it will replace the last two lifts that the resort was using.

It will accommodate about 3,000 guests an hour and fit 6 people at a time.

Nick Delich, mountain operations manager at Blue Mountain Resort, spoke with FOX56 about the new lift.

"Today we were continuing to work on our new six-passenger detach high-speed chair lift that is going to take people from the bottom of the mountain all the way to the top. It is going to be a continuous improvement towards our master plan here. It is going to allow us to bring more people faster uphill. It is going to disperse people on some of those more crowded weekends and it's going to be a great improvement for the guest experience here. So we started our planning phase well before winter was even over. We expect this to be up and running for this coming season. Everyone is extremely excited."
