Bloggers meet political candidates in person

PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WOLF) -- Several political candidates showed up to meet bloggers tonight at Blogfest near Wilkes-Barre.

The organizer from Plains says he writes his own political blog called "Gort 42."

Since 2008, they've been having these meetings every so often to bring together bloggers, voters, candidates, and elected officials.

This time, the event at the River Grille also served as the after-party for a day-long blogging conference called NEPA BlogCon that was held at Penn State Worthington-Scranton earlier on Saturday.

"A non-partisan, well, actually, multi-partisan gathering that we do twice a year," says organizer Ben Hoon. "It's open to Republicans, Democrats, Greens, Libertarians, and anybody else who wants to come."

Hoon says he's always been interested in politics and likes to write about it, and he's even run for office in the past.

We spotted some Luzerne County Council candidates, a Wilkes-Barre councilman, and a candidate for U.S. House from the 11th District of PA, among those in attendance.
