On Tuesday night, Congressman Lou Barletta won the Republican primary race for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.

Now, Barletta is hoping to become U.S. Senator Barletta.

Barletta delivered his victory speech to a room full of supporters at The Pines Restaurant in his hometown of Hazleton.

Leading up to Primary Election Day, many of his supporters and those in the political world predicted it would be an easy victory over his challenger, Republican State Representative Jim Christiana of Western P.A.

Besides his family, Barletta may not have a bigger supporter than President Donald Trump.

In recent days, the President recorded a two-minute robocall encouraging Pennsylvanian's to vote for his good friend and even called him a special guy.

Barletta of course was one of Trump's first outspoken supporters.

Barletta of course was well-known for his stance on illegal immigration long before the national conversation started when he was the mayor of Hazleton.

However, his most challenging days may lie ahead of him.

In November, he'll face off against U.S. Senator Bob Casey in the general election.

Casey has held the position since 2006.
