MONTOURSVILLE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WOLF) — 10 kids in Lycoming County got gifted some adaptive bikes thanks to Variety the Children’s Charity.
Usually going for $1800, these were given away for free.
For a family of four, the maximum annual income to apply for one is $128,000.
"He would never be able to ride a bicycle with two wheels and we’ve never really been able to afford something like this here," said Todd Brehm. His son received a bike. "I know he’s happy, very happy. And we’re happy."
"It allows the children to become a better part of their family, to communicate with their family, to ride bicycles with their family, and if that isn’t life altering, then I don’t know what it is," added Tom Corbett, the former governor of Pennsylvania.
On top of the bike giveaway, this officially served as the launch for the My Stroller and My Voice programs in multiple counties.
Those living in Bradford, Lycoming, Luzerne, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Tioga, and Wyoming counties can learn more about or apply for any of the three devices here.
