SALEM TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WOLF) -- One person was taken to the hospital earlier today after being burned in an explosion at a gas plant in Salem Township.
Fire crews were called to the Western International Gas and Cylinders plant just before 2:00 p.m. for a report of an explosion with a burn victim.
Salem Township Assistant Fire Chief Rich Eyer says that an acelytene tank inside the plant exploded due to an unknown cause and a fire also started inside, which was brought up to three alarms.
However, the plant's suppression system prevented the fire from spreading.
Eyer says no structural damage was reported.
The victim was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. Their injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.
