Lighter turnout expected in Tuesday's off-year election

The finishing touches were ironed out Friday, ahead of Tuesday's election.

In Lancaster County, the last of the voting machines were delivered to the 240 polling locations.

Officials are anticipating a much lighter turnout then last November. They believe about 20 percent of the county's 340,000 registered voters will show up, down from almost 74 percent for last year's presidential race.

"These elections matter. Every election matters," said Lancaster County Commissioner Josh Parsons. "The off year elections, which maybe don’t get quite as much attention, these are officials that make decisions that impact your daily life."

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Voters are encourage to check out sample ballots on the county's website to get an idea of the races they will be deciding.
