Las Vegas Massacre: Hero cab driver seeks names of people he saved. 10/05/17 (KSNV)

It is security camera video from inside a cab driver’s car that haunts Cab driver Winifredo Macquindang.

“I thought it was fireworks,” said Macquindang. “And then I saw glass and blood and I knew it was real.”

The cab driver was outside Mandalay Bay when the gunfire started and he says he had a hard time navigating the streets in the seconds after the carnage began. Hundreds of people surrounded his cab, banging on the doors, begging to be rescued.

“I fit as many people as I could in the car. Two were up front with me. They were women. Four were in the back seat. In the middle was a young man who kept saying over and over I am dying I am dying. I told him I am here to help you, but he said I’m dying, I’m dying. He was shot in the neck, I think," he said.

For blocks, approaching the freeway, the street was a war zone.

“There was blood all over the place, people on the floor, people on the ground," he told us.

On video inside the cab obtained by News 3, people are heard, begging, “can you please come to the corner? Can you please come to the corner? I’ve got a guy shot on the corner!”

But Macquindang could fit no more inside his car, even though many piled on top of his cab screaming to “Go, go go!”

Macquindang saying, he could see the bullet holes in their bodies.

“One in the back one in the neck some in the legs. I don’t know if they are alive or not. I wish I knew if any of them lived. It keeps me up at night.”
