Woman convicted in 2013 fatal DUI crash now charged with overdosing in front of children
JOHNSTOWN -- A Johnstown woman who was convicted several years in a DUI crash that killed her husband is now facing drug and child endangerment charges after overdosing in front of her young children, according to police.
According to a complaint, Misty Petrick's 10-year-old child called 911 in February and told dispatch that his mom was on the ground.
Police said when first responders arrived Petrick, 40, was lying on the floor and her four children, ranging from 2 to 10, were only partially clothed.
According to police, the home was in deplorable condition with garbage and used needles lying around.
Police said they also found four bags filled with several thousand empty stamp bags of heroin.
This isn't Petrick's first run-in with the law. In 2015, she was sentenced to two years in prison and 15 months of probation after she pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and DUI after her husband was killed in a 2013 DUI crash on Emmett Drive.
Petrick is now facing drug and child endangerment charges. She has been released after posting 10% of a $25,000 bond.
Her children are now in the custody of Children and Youth Services workers >>while she awaits a hearing on Wednesday.<<
