Wilkes-Barre men sentenced in stealing $68,000 from union

Two Wilkes-Barre men were sentenced in connection to stealing funds from a local union.

Michale Evans, 57, and William Uggiano, 60, were both sentenced to 2 years of probation for stealing more than $68,000 in funds from the American Federation of Government Employees Local 1699 Union.

Evans was ordered to pay back $65,775 to the union, while Uggiano has to pay back $7,350.

Evans and Uggiano severed as president and treasurer respectively, and stole the union funds from Local 1699's credit union between March 2013 and December 2015.
