Tornado warning and severe storm warnings for NEPA

Tornado watch 94 remains valid until 8 pm edt this evening for the following areas in New York this watch includes 1 county in Central New York, Sullivan in Pennsylvania this watch includes 3 counties in northeast Pennsylvania: Lackawanna, Pike and Wayne

This includes the cities of Hawley, Honesdale, Milford, Monticello, and Scranton Until 400 PM EDT.

* At 327 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Lava, or 13 miles east of Honesdale, moving east at 60 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.

Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

White Lake, Smallwood and Eldred around 335 PM EDT.
Monticello around 340 PM EDT.
Hartwood and Oakland around 345 PM EDT.
Haven and Rock Hill around 350 PM EDT.
Wurtsboro around 355 PM EDT.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Carbon County and Monroe County in northeastern Pennsylvania Until 415 PM EDT.

* At 320 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Old Forge to near Shumans, moving east at 65 mph.

* Locations impacted include...

Lehighton, Mount Pocono, East Stroudsburg, Tobyhanna, Palmerton, Jim Thorpe, Nesquehoning, Wind Gap, Weatherly, Stormville, Werry Lake, Pocono Pines, Lake Harmony, Skytop, Tannersville, Long Pond, Kresgeville, Sun Valley, Reeders and Beltzville State Park.

The National Weather Service in State College PA has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Schuylkill County, Southern Northumberland County, Northern Dauphin County, Northeastern Juniata County. Southeastern Snyder County, Southeastern Columbia County and Perry County in south central Pennsylvania.Until 400 PM EDT

* At 314 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Rock Glen to Kulpmont to near Richfield to near Honey Grove, moving east at 50 mph.

* Locations impacted include...

Tamaqua, St. Clair, Minersville, Mahanoy City, Frackville, Shamokin, Kulpmont, Pottsville, Shenandoah and Ashland.

For those driving on Interstate 80, this includes areas between the Mifflinville and Nescopek exits, specifically from mile markers 244 to 247.

This includes Interstate 81 from mile markers 105 to 139.

* At 247 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Exchange, moving east at 65 mph.


The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Lackawanna County, Northern Luzerne County, Wyoming County Until 315 PM EDT. * At 226 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Herrickville to near Sugar Run to near Muncy Valley, moving east at 50 mph.

Mehoopany, Meshoppen and Forkston around 240 PM EDT.
