Teen jailed after hot pursuit with baby in tow
TUNKHANNOCK, WYOMING COUNTY (WOLF) -- A Meshoppen teenager is locked up after police say he led them on a hot pursuit for about five miles.
Tunkhannock police say they tried to pull over Austin Garcia, 18, downtown, but he took off, at times topping 60 miles per hour, and nearly hitting a car as he wound through several streets and out into the township..
Garcia finally pulled over and put his hands out the window near Shupp Hill Road, police said.
Investigators say three teenage girls were also in the car on Tuesday afternoon, including his baby's mother, and the baby, who slept through the whole thing.
The criminal complaint says Garcia admitted he was scared because he had no license, the vehicle was not legal, and he had marijuana inside.
His bail is set at $25,000. He's facing charges including fleeing police, unlawful restraint, altered documents, and drug possession.
