Tax breaks sought for three new warehouses
HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WOLF) -- Chewy.com is hopping with business at its new Hanover Township warehouse.
Now, the development company that brought the pet-supply website here is looking for tax breaks for another tract nearby, on the other side of the South Cross Valley Expressway.
According to our news-gathering partners at the Times Leader, the Earth Conservancy has long marketed the other site and it could house three new warehouses.
The Luzerne County Council is set to discuss NorthPoint Development's request for the "LERTA" tax break for that new property during their regular 6 p.m. meeting on Tuesday.
Last year, we reported on the Earth Conservancy efforts at reclaiming an old coal site in that area by Luzerne County Community College.
If the LERTA is approved, full taxes might not be paid until around 2030 on the new warehouses. The new property is mostly within Hanover Township, with a part in Nanticoke.
