STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WOLF) -- Marchers and spectators in Stroudsburg Enjoyed a beautiful day along the parade route for the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Hundreds lined Main Street, watching dozens of colorful floats and marchers pass by.
Some newcomers, like the Pocono Brewery Company.
Jean-Luc Vitiello, with the Pocono Brewery Company, said, “Well we kind of made a last minute decision to come in, so about a week ago. It was really tight with the snowstorm, but we plowed through the past couple days. Everyone got together, blowing up the balloons and getting these giant tanks on the trailer here.”
And the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania who wanted to share their positivity with the crowd.
“It was the right year to do it. So we’re excited to be here and we’re glad to be sharing with the community, and letting the community know what Prince Hall Masonry is all about. We’re about taking good men and making them better,” Martin Perdomo, Worshipful Master of Oriental Lodge #80, said.
There were also some veteran marchers in the mix.
ESSA Bank and Trust have been in the parade for the last three years, and like being able to interact with the community they serve.
“Just meeting and greeting people as we walk through the community. Seeing familiar faces, and being able to give back to the community,” Lori Ruiz, with ESSA Bank and Trust, said.
The Monroe County Special Olympics have been in the parade for 18 years, and coach and fundraising coordinator Gigi Rue says the athletes can’t get enough.
“They all look forward to it, they look forward to the cheers they hear along the line and of course seeing their friends. They look forward to being on TV as you can tell!”
The parade is hosted by the Pocono Irish American Club, and has been held the Sunday after St. Patrick’s Day since 1978.
