PSP | Man leads police on chase through yards, crashes into a cruiser

A 27-year-old man is facing multiple charges after leading State Police a on chase and crashed into a police cruiser late Wednesday night, according to police.

Troopers say they saw Loren Ryan Stains, of St. Thomas Pa., involved in a drug deal around 11:30 p.m. in the Rutter's parking lot on 4498 Lincoln Way West, Saint Thomas Township.

According to the report, Stains got into his 2004 Nissan Maxima and almost hit a marked police car when leaving the parking lot.

Police say he then committed multiple traffic violations and failed to stop when police tried to pull him over.

During the pursuit, Stains reportedly hit a fence and drove through several yards before hit a marked State Police cruiser.

The report continues to say that Stains then hit a parked vehicle on Coldbrook Ave. and them fled on foot before being taken into custody.

The trooper involved in the crash was taken to Chambersburg Hospital out of precaution and was released.

Stains is currently in Franklin County prison on $1 million bail.

In addition to numerous traffic violations, Stains is also charged with the following:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Aggravated assualt by vehicle while driving under the influence
  • Driving under the influence
  • The controlled substance, drug, device and cosmetic act
  • Flight to avoid apprehension
  • Fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer
  • Recklessly endangering another person
  • Criminal mischief
  • Resisting arrest or other law enforcement
  • Disorderly conduct
