Mike Linden's Forecast | Messy mix arrives overnight; huge temperature swing into Saturday
Friday has arrived and temperatures have skyrocketed into the record-setting mid 60s; wild stuff! What's even more wild is the HUGE temperature drop NEPA will feel int the weekend.
It's been overcast, gusty and wet throughout Friday afternoon but as a powerful cold front arrives this evening the real "fun" begins.
Most will first see the switch from rain to freezing rain around 9:00-10:00 with wintry mix expected to take over into Saturday. By Saturday morning light snow showers will take the wheel and by 10:00-11:00 a.m. we'll be done with the active weather. The main concern is the freezing rain and the potential for 0.25" or so of it (potentially more in some spots). This is enough to not only cause spotty power outages but will also be enough to make driving slick and dangerous. Not to mention, any snow or mix on top of the ice will make it difficult to see. Please take it easy on the roads!
By Saturday night temperatures will drop all the way back to the single digits but feel more like -10°. That represents a 50°+ temperature swing in a little more than 24 hours...that's nuts.
Unfortunately, temperatures don't recover much into next week as daytime highs hover around the mid 20s with another chance at snow Monday night and through Tuesday.
