Geisinger installs private breastfeeding pods in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre hospitals
WILKES-BARRE (WOLF) -- Geisinger hospitals in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre have installed private nursing suites for breastfeeding moms.
Nursing moms at Geisinger Community Medical Center and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center will now be able to use Mamava pods while breastfeeding or pumping.
The pods have space for strollers and power outlets for breast pumps.
Geisinger allows moms to breastfeed anywhere, but some moms wanted more privacy.
“The employees definitely were looking for something that was a little bit more friendly for them to go to pump, especially since they’re here for longer shifts. The patients – a lot of patients that we have need to come back in with their infants for either lab work or diagnostic studies, and now they have a quiet place that they’re able to go to,” Internationally board-certified Lactation Consultant Nicole Williams said.
Geisinger also has Mamava pods at its Danville location.
Moms can also search for nearby pods by using the Mamava app.
